A summary of institute activities from the beginning till end 2014’s
Research projects
Since 1995, research has been conductedon Iran’s natural environment, its long standing wisdom, beliefs, as well as arts aimed at better identification of these assets to introduce them to wider audiences in order to preserve them. The following items are among the most important and elaborate research projects in this category:
TAKHT-e SOLEIMAN, registered as one of the most important Iran’s ancient monuments
Izad Banou , as one of the most important ancient goddesses and related to Iran’s art history
The research project on Iranian sacred beliefs and arts with extensive studies on fire, light, and water
“Ancient mutual-aid based on participation, alliance, and blessing in Iranian culture” to assess participation levels in the cultural patterns and occupations in ALAMOUT region.
Since 2000, ARTA workshops have been in place for instructing handcrafts, weaving, hand-printing, architecture, painting, and sculpting to children and adolescents. The participants finely learn arts of Iran and their practical principles in the respective workshops and briefly get familiar with the basic knowledge of Iran’s environment, nature, wildlife, and their significance

The introductory workshops for bio cultural diversity of Iran has been held since 1392
Experiencing the bio cultural diversity of Iran’s workshops has started since 1393. The objective of this workshop is the direct experience of Iran’s bio cultural diversity’s evidences in the nature, cultural places and outside the Institute for children, teenagers and adults.

Village Through Empowerment of Communitywhich include the following:
The plan “OWAN’s Rural Fund” was successfully performed with collaboration of local community for creating alternative jobs that are more compatible with environment and natural resources to enable revival of some handcrafts such as carpet and rug-weaving.
The project “Management of conservation and ecotourism utilization of OWAN Lake” was carried out by the local community for sustainable utilization of this sensitive and rare ecosystem.
The project “empowerment of local community in the waste management and conservation of environment for the surrounding villages of OWAN Lake” was carried out with the collaborative help of the local ALAMOUTBÄNÄN association and the Rural Construction and Development Office of Municipalities and Village Prefects Organization, which received the title ofthe best plan for a province in the country in 2010.
“TAMÄSHÄGAH-e RÄZ” and “ Mehr –e Iran shahr “ work plan
The work plan “TAMÄSHÄGAH-e RÄZ” was planned as the local Iranian conservational model of Ecotourism, Geo-tourism, and Rural tourism aimed at preservation of Iran’s natural and cultural heritage,
The work plan “MEHR-e Iranshahr” was planned as “A program for acknowledging and fostering Iran’s guards and protectors”.
“MEHR-E Iranshahr,TAKHT-e SOLEIMAN” in the form of the program entitled “Acknowledgement of AZIZ ÄSHEQI”
2012-2013, to revive the “Kheimeh shab bazi” puppetry, a show for “honoring the Khamsei group, the only remaining and authentic group for this ancient Iranian art” was performed.
Mutual-aid
Mutual-aid and assistance to natural disasters victims: Bushehr, April 2013, Helped Earthquake Victims,
Azerbaijan Sharghi , 2012, helped earthquake victims by financial and non-financial assistance of volunteers
Volunteer programs to preserve nature :
1391- Forestation Karaj Site
Identification of causes for the huge forest fires in the western region of the country to seek solutions to prevent it.
2013- : mountainous branch of Iran’s national botany garden, participation program to plant limited number of trees , correction of water basins for irrigation, and weed removal.
2013- forestation project in “Kahrizak” landfill site

2014- forestation project in mountainous branch of Iran’s national botany garden
2014- Forestation project andestablished fire fighting walls in mountainous branch of Iran’s national botany , Sirchal
“Iran’s Academy of indigenous Knowledge and Art (ADABESTAN)” project
2010-2011-Planning and facilitation for preparing the project “Iran’s Academy of indigenous Knowledge and Art (ADABESTAN)” was accomplished which aimed at preserving cultural heritage through teaching them; the plan was successfully completed with collaboration and participation of enthusiasts and supporters. By virtue of doing this project, the institute was accepted successfully as associated member of The Inter-City Intangible Cultural Cooperation Network ICCN[1]in 2012.
Lectures
2012- A lecture entitled “Friendship, peace and compatibility with wind, water, land, sun, plants, animals and human” was presented in the “From Frost to Desert Conference” with collaboration of Iran’s national UNESCO commission, Swedish embassy in Tehran, Iran’s Geology Organization, in commemoration of the scientific work of “Sven Hedin” and celebrating and drawing attention to his personality.
2012- A lecture entitled “Necessity of Capacity building and capacity assessment for conservation and protection of biological and cultural diversity based on collective participation of stakeholders” was presented in the instructional workshop of Iran’s national UNESCO commission with collaboration of TARBIAT MODARRES University of Iran.
2012- A lecture entitled “Arts and crafts in indigenous culture of Iran as self purification conduct for peace and harmony between nature and mankind, and protective activities of CAI5 ” was presented by Mohammad Ahyaee in UNESCO
“Capacity building, preservation and protection of bio cultural diversity in Alamout-Dohezar areas with the focus on local communities participation in protection of the leopard”
Dec2013, Held a Seminar on” An Introduction to Standards for Environmental Education”
July and August 2013, Preparation of a Declaration to the President of I.R. Iran entitled: “invitation for indigenous capacity building in Biocultural diversity of Iran”
2014- Participation in the 13th International environment Fair
Protection and sustainable local conservation for art, culture and nature of Kermanshah province with indigenous women empowerment
June 2013- Membership in Environmental Schools Advisory Board
Since June 2014, as an official appointee by the Environmental Protection Agency, Mohammad Ahyaee has become a member of the Advisory Board (AB) for Environmental Schools. By September 2014, the AB drafted the Schools charter. Since that date, the charter implementation plan is being prepared.
3The Inter-City Intangible Cultural Cooperation Network (ICCN) is the only international organization of local governments and cultural organizations that aim to safeguard the world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. The ICCN has been working to explore creative and effective policies for the safeguarding of local Intangible Cultural Heritage and its inseparable relation to sustainable local development. Furthermore, we aim to make cultural peace based on mutual understanding formed through intercultural dialogue.
